How much was your Symba? (And 2010 vs. 2012)
« on: May 21, 2012, 04:30:03 PM »
Hi all,

As I expressed in my previous post, I am on the verge of purchasing a new Symba. My CT70 is already for sale on Craigslist.

I've found a few brand new 2010 models for $1,950 and $2,000 at a couple local dealers. Out the door after taxes and prep, it's about $2,300. Is that a great deal, good deal, fair deal, or lousy deal...?

I'm just curious to know how much you paid for yours (if bought new). Also, does anyone know the specific differences between the 2010 and 2012 models? I was told that the turn signals are chrome, or something to that effect, but if it's worth the extra money to get a 2012 model, I will.

Thanks for your help.

We paid $1999 OTD for our 2010 Symbas in May of 2011.  We bought two of the baby blue ones, so we got a discount for that.  Since we bought them in Oregon there was no sales tax.  We also bought them pre-riding season here, so that also worked in our favor.  It was also during the post-Carter Brothers uncertainty.  Plus, Justin and Rachelle at Classic Scooter and Cycle are cool! $2K sounds pretty good to me right now, but you can always try to haggle a bit more.

I haven't heard about any differences between the 2010 and 2012 models, so I can't comment on that.  Good luck on your sale and purchase!

$1500 OTD from Waskos last year...It's what they really should be priced at to sell in significant numbers...

Thank you all for your responses. OK, folks, this the moment you've all been waiting for (...or maybe not): I just bought the bike of my dreams: a light blue and white Symba!  :)

I think I got a good deal. It's my first brand new bike since my 2001 Tomos Targa LX, and my second brand new bike ever. One new bike every decade is a good rate to be at.

The bike is being delivered to me tomorrow by the dealer after they prep it. I cannot wait. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight. I don't get those "Christmas Morning" feelings of excitement much anymore like I used to, so it's nice to anticipate something great.

(Special thank you to our "Underboning the World" duo for their inspiration on color choice and for answering my questions.)

I see two for sale on Ebay (new, 2010 models, black) for $1800.  One of them even has a "make offer" option.

There are no differences between the 2010 and the 2012 Symbas. The 2010 Symbas were from the Carter bros. California warehouse. They sat there for quite awhile and were sold cheap - but they really needed a good carb cleaning to run well...

Oh really? Not sure if my dealer had cleaned my carb out before selling me the new 2010 model. (He said it was a 2010 that came from the Carter Bros. stock, but it was actually sold to him via Alliance Powersports in 2011.)

I paid $1880 for my new 2010 Symba last month, so your price sounds about right.  Out the door in San Francisco, California with dealer assembly, taxes, and registration it ran about $2600.

We are selling the 2012 Symba for$2444 Otd. This includes helmet,prep,1st service, tax and license. All the 2010 costs were so low due to Carter's fiasco- even if bought thru Alliance - and with all the prep needed, we still could sell them for under $2000.

SYM Dealer, SYM rider, SYM owner - got them all!
