New Symba Owner
« on: May 01, 2015, 02:17:48 PM »
Hi - Well, tomorrow I am picking my new (to me) 2013 Symba.  I used to ride Honda Passports and loved them, but didn't want to go back to a 30-plus year-old bike.  I've been riding Vespas and Stellas, but kept looking for a used Symba and found one this week.  This one was the original owner's, the black and white version and only has 900 miles on it and the price was really good so I bought it.  I'll post pictures once I get it home.  Glad to find this forum!

Congrats on your "new to you" Symba.  You'll love it.   I have a Passport and a Symba and although I love the Passport, there's something about new technology, and full warranty, that is pleasing with the Symba.  SYM did a great job with this bike in my opinion.

I have been looking for a used Symba forever - not too many out there here in Seattle.  Most of the ones I would find were 2010 models and this was the first 2013 I had found.  With a back injury the lighter weight will suit me better than my Stella.

Can't wait to see a photo of yours.  Even though we all know what they look like, it's nice to put a bike to a username. :)

Yeah - picked it up on Saturday morning and I, along with several of my scooter friends, rode from Tacoma, then to West Seattle and then over to Capitol Hill.  Spent about 7 hours (and about 60 miles) just riding around.  It was great and the little Symba kept up quite nicely with my friends on their Vespa 250-300s.  I've been riding a Stella for the last couple of years and had forgotten (from my days with the Passport) how much more stable the bigger wheels make the ride - night and day difference!  Also, I got more thumbs up on the ride from people passing us than my Vespa friends got - they weren't too happy about that :-)  I tried to post pictures, but I don't have one of those "hosting" sites to store my photos.

The bigger wheels is one thing I do like over my Vespa.
I took out my Symba today:

I'm thinking of selling the Stella and seeing if I can't find a decent Passport/Cub as my secondary scoot.  It might be fun to have the two to compare how things have changed.  I really like the updated front shocks and it's nice having a gas gauge :-)

Two thoughts on the Passport/Cub.  I'd recommend the 12v version; 1982 and newer.  I have a 1981 6v.
There are times I try to ride the Passport only to find out the battery has died. :(
This doesn't happen with the Symba.

Welcome from another Seattle Symba owner! Not too many around here. It is a great place to ride. Wish we were able to take them across the bridges though. It is a long way to have to go around the lake. Anyway, congratulations and have fun. Summer is almost here, so there are many riding days just around the corner!

Thanks!  Are you over in Bellevue?  Is that what you meant about the bridges?  I live in downtown Seattle and have already put 175 miles on it in the week I've owned it - just love it.

Oh, and the last Passport I had was a 12v (1983 model) - and, yes, much more reliable :-)
