Thanks Baron! My bike's got 64 miles on it now, and it's already starting to sing! Just had my first gas fill-up tonight. Very interesting experience -- wasn't sure if I was full or not, so I had to carefully manipulate the pump. That fuel filler door is very tight! Luckily, I didn't have any spillover but it took some skill to not spill.

Hey folks! I got my new Symba today! Wonderful bike, handles great, very much reminds me of my CT90 which was Cub-based.

The shifter's a little tougher to engage, but I think that's 'cause it's sooo new. I am so happy to have such wonderful transportation. Can't wait to accessorize the bike and do some long runs after the break in period's over. Exciting!!

You'll be hearing a lot more from me in the near future. Happy riding everyone.

Thank you all for your responses. OK, folks, this the moment you've all been waiting for (...or maybe not): I just bought the bike of my dreams: a light blue and white Symba!  :)

I think I got a good deal. It's my first brand new bike since my 2001 Tomos Targa LX, and my second brand new bike ever. One new bike every decade is a good rate to be at.

The bike is being delivered to me tomorrow by the dealer after they prep it. I cannot wait. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight. I don't get those "Christmas Morning" feelings of excitement much anymore like I used to, so it's nice to anticipate something great.

(Special thank you to our "Underboning the World" duo for their inspiration on color choice and for answering my questions.)

Hi all,

As I expressed in my previous post, I am on the verge of purchasing a new Symba. My CT70 is already for sale on Craigslist.

I've found a few brand new 2010 models for $1,950 and $2,000 at a couple local dealers. Out the door after taxes and prep, it's about $2,300. Is that a great deal, good deal, fair deal, or lousy deal...?

I'm just curious to know how much you paid for yours (if bought new). Also, does anyone know the specific differences between the 2010 and 2012 models? I was told that the turn signals are chrome, or something to that effect, but if it's worth the extra money to get a 2012 model, I will.

Thanks for your help.

I really like that bench seat on your bike. I went to my local dealer this weekend and sat on one. Felt great, totally nice fit, but that metal bar behind me separating the two stock seats will have to go. Is the bench seat better cushioned? Also, do they make one that says HONDA? Would be neat to pay homage to the real deal somewhere on the bike.

Hi Underboning! I have been following your adventures and living vicariously through your blog. Thanks for sharing your trip around the world with the rest of the world. I just sent the link of your blog to my wife to show her that my proposed purchase is one that has been well-researched and thorough tested to withstand the harsh climates of...well, our suburban neighborhood.

My wife's very partial to the light blue. Although she doesn't ride, she might become the occasional passenger, and thus, I'll happily go with her (and your) choice of hue. (And yours too, Ootscoot, thanks for chiming in.)

I'm going to be stopping by my local dealer this coming weekend to check one out in the flesh. I'm also going to be putting my CT70 up on Craigslist along with some other stuff in my garage to help supplant the cost.

Thanks very much for the information. My heart's set on a Symba. Now the question is: red, black or light blue?

Are there any organized Symba-specific rides or meet ups that you folks know of?

Hi there,

First time poster, long time rider...of Honda CTs. I'm aiming to replace my beloved 1992 Honda CT70 with a Symba in the near future. The Trail 70 is a great bike, but I'm noticing that the smaller frame isn't conducive to my riding style. I need something a bit more comfy. I also used to own a 1973 CT90 but had sold it years ago when I needed some money.

From what I understand, the Symba is very similar to the CTs (and the Passport). For those who have experience with the CT70/CT90, what differences (better or worse) could I be expecting with a Symba? (For instance, I was told that the shifter on the Symba is much stiffer or notchier to engage than it is on a Honda CT.)

I'm excited at the prospect of having a new Symba in my garage in the next few weeks as summer begins to roll around; I need a fun bike for the season and I'm hoping the Symba is it.

Any comments/advice from past/present Honda CT riders who are now Symba would be totally appreciated.

And hopefully I'll get my Symba and be more active here in the near future!

Thanks, Wal
