HD200 / Re: Fuse blows, bike no start

I am not familiar with your model, but it sounds like the fuse supplies your ignition as well. Looking for an intermittent short, I would start with the wires around the head stem, they can wear the insulating through constant moving of the handle bars.

HD125 / Re: Lowering the Seat Height?

I have just had the seat pad trimmed on my vs125, not to lower the seat height, but to remove the lump behind the riders sitting position. It is good.

Yesterday I rode to adelaide to get a refund on a wiring loom, 400kms each way, left 9:45 am got home about 6:00pm.
That was not on my scooter, was on my Boulevard C50, so I guess that doesn't count. ;D

VS125 / Top Box on a VS 125?
« on: November 21, 2011, 08:49:50 PM »
G'day all, has anyone put a top box on a VS 125? If so, did you use the existing grab rail and drill out the preformed holes, or did you use a bracket that replaced the grab rail? any pics you have of the install would be a help also.
i have a Givi e30 box on the way, just wondering about fitting options.

JetEuro 50 / Re: New Sym Jet 50 Owner with "hopefully" not new problems....

G'day Iain, I don't know about the derestrictions, but, it sounds like you have a wire off or a bad connection on either your ignition switch or cdi. I am not sure about sym, but kymco used a black/white wire on the cdi. When the switch was turned to off it would earth this wire stopping the engine. This may not be your problem, but a place to start looking.
oops, only just saw the date of the post.

RV250 / Re: What is size of drive belt
« on: November 18, 2011, 09:14:28 PM »
With the belt size 924 would be the length in mm, 24.4 would be the width across the top of the belt and the 30 I believe to be the angle in degrees of the vee, (sides of the belt).

VS125 / Kick start mechanism
« on: November 18, 2011, 09:10:41 PM »
G'day all, the Sym VS 125 I bought a few weeks ago had a partially seized kick starter. This was not really a problem as the battery is new, but I do like things to work properly. Today, I swapped the clutches between the 150 and 125, (putting them back to their correct engines after a trial). While I had the cover off the 125 I disassembled the kick starter and cleaned and greased it. The difference is amazing. That unit was a 2008 model and is now better than my 2011 unit, so i guess that will be done next. Clean and lube, big difference and the best part was that I had no hassle what so ever getting the spring back in. :)

Fiddle II 125 / Re: LED Running lights

With regards to the indicator lights, I could only suggest checking that they are the correct wattage, not sure about your model, but usually 21 watts.
With the head light, is yours a halogen globe? With my previous scoot, Kymco ZX50, I replaced the big dull bulb with a 35/35 watt super bright halogen globe, was a big improvement. Hope this helps.

VS125 / Re: What should the valve clearance be on a Vs 125?
« on: November 15, 2011, 05:06:16 PM »
G'day SIGGE, the correct setting for the valves are 0.12mm with an allowance of 0.02 either way. The exhaust and inlet are the same setting. at 0.1 you are at the lower limit, I have set mine at 0.127.

G'day all, I am new to Sym and to this forum. I have just bought a sym Vs 125, it seems to be a great little scooter. My main reason for purchasing this is for running to work and back. This is my second scooter, my previous one was a Kymco ZX50, which I had heavily modded, however, this one won't be modded in that way. I have replaced the engine with an engine from a VS 150, not a whole lot more power, but just enough to make it worth the exercise.
The scooter has 17,000 km on the clock, the 150 engine came from a scoot with only 1,755kms, so is a near new engine, should last a few years.
These scooters seem to be pretty well built, start and run easy and comfortable to ride. Before buying this one, I test rode a Kymco super 8 125, it was a lovely scoot, but there was not enough room for my feet and the seat sloped too much for my liking, but I must say it was the quickest scoot I test rode, the other was a Yamaha Cygnus X 125, so the VS125 was an easy choice in the end.
Anyway, hello to all from Australia.
