General Discussion / Sym Jet 50 euro-filter on the exhaust bracket ???

Hello everyone, I got a question, there is a filter on the exhaust bracket and the hose went into the old exhaust, however when I got the new one, there was nowhere to plug the hose in. What is this filter for? Can I drive without it ? Do I need to plug it or just leave it hanging ? Sorry for posting here, the last topic in the Jet euro 50 section is an year old... Thank you
