Title: plug location too deep inside engine...
Post by: system100m on July 23, 2019, 03:57:47 AM
I wanted to replace the plug and then found that the plug is placed way deep inside the engine closure, in a way that it can easily fall into the engine area if not pulled or pushed in with special tools... this is the first time I encounter something like this!

Is anyone familiar with it ? how do you change it without risking it falling in there ?

Without a pic it's tough to say for sure, but some plug wrenches do have a rubber insert that will hold onto the plug for ya for exactly this reason.
Assuming you don't bang it around too much on the way out that'd do it.

I had this exact problem on a Symphony 150. The plug fell. I just needed to remove the cover to the air cooler and the plug fell out. I can recommend the Gedore Red spark pug spanner as it seems to hold onto the plug a lot better than the cheap one I originally used.

Hope this helps.

Use a plug socket with something to hold the plug in (Rubber ring), then add a long-ish extention so the plug can be controlled. The last thing you want is a cross-threaded plug.
