Here is a link to Just Gotta Scoot's blurb on where to get SYM parts until Carter Brothers rebuilds: http://www.justgottascoot.com/sym.htm#CautionHere is a quote from that Just Gotta Scoot article: "On July 23rd, 2010, Carter Brothers released a letter stating that they plan to rebuild, but asking consumers in the meantime to contact SYM of Canada for parts needs. For reference, SYM of Canada can be reached at 1-877-463-3940 or by email at info@symcanada.ca."

As a brand new SYM owner, this is frustrating and depressing.

I found the letter to be more up lifting then bad. Carter claims to be rebuilding and they have done it more then once after a tragidy, they claim to have many scooters available in other locations for the dealers, and have done some research to help us get parts even if we have to go to Canada. This is better news than not rebuilding, no parts available, etc. I wouldn't be afraid to buy or own a great scooter like SYM after this unfortunate fire.

Sym needs to find another distributor ASAP and cut all ties with Carter Brothers. 2nd fire in ten years and arson to boot. Someone needs to go directly to jail!!

As long as there is a source of parts and service, we will be OK.

Way I look at it, I order my parts over the phone or internet. What is the difference if they come from Canada or Alabama. 22.500+ miles of trouble free riding so far, I got no complaints in the quality of the product. We here own some of the best made scooters in the world, SYM's have been around a very long time, I dont think we have anything to worry about.

Spoilsport! It's much more fun to worry and complain about what might be than to enjoy what is.

I just received the message below form David Huarto of Scooter Lounge Online. He is going to be able to get parts from SYM Canada. I've ordered parts from David before and have been pleased with his service. Regards, Gary
"We are going to be able to order SYM parts from Canada. The only snag is that Carter Brothers made up their own part numbers, so we're trying to get the part numbers cross referenced. We are presently waiting for them to give us sign in info to their secure server in order to see the parts manuals with the correct numbers. Sorry for the delay."

We are presently waiting for them to give us sign in info to their secure server So it seems as though Carter at least has a server up and running.

Thanks for the info Gary. I'll check out Scooter Lounge.
Why am I not surprised Carter Brothers made up their own secret parts numbers? A while back a construction company pickup tried to back up over my RV250. Just cosmetic damage and their insurance paid off right away. But it was a real adventure getting the right body panels. Carter Brothers' listings didn't even include body panels for a red RV250. They just acknowledged blue, silver and grey.
