Anyone know where I can get these brake pads for a SYM RV250, yesterday? Can't find any in the USA? :-\

Hey,

When the local shop ordered brake pads for my hd200, they sent rv250 pads instead. He still has them. You want?

My local shop carries EBC brakes.  I've had no issues with the pads on my HD200.  Page 43 of their 2010 Catalog (PDF) lists these two pads:

Orgainic: FA283*
Sintered: FA283HH*
* symbol after part# = 2 pieces reqd. i.e. 2 pad sets or 2 contour rotors

EBC points you towards http://www.perfectbrakes.com/ to buy brakes online, but specifically states that they charge full price plus shipping.  No deals or discounts.  I think that means it's EBC's retail front.  All things being equal, I would suggest supporting your local dealer by ordering it through them.

I purchased EBC FA283HH pads from Powersports Superstore for $34.14.  They seemed to match what I had on my RV-250.  Mike I think it was said that EBC FA355 matched his pads better.

I went to my local dealer and he matched the FA355 pads from EBC for my front brake pads on the RV250. So that is what I ordered from him. Hopefully he looked it up correctly.

EBC is the way to go for brake pad replacement on the RV, Mike. The OEMs aren't that great to begin with ...

Yeah, hope you'll get the right set shipped to you.

GaryL,  I ordered and got some EBC SFA283HH sintered front break pads for my 09 RV250.  When I went to install, they fit in the caliper but are not the same and the locking spring does not fit tightly.  Did you have the same experience and has it effected brake performance?

SYMmike, you mentioned that you ordered the FA355.  Were these the exact same shape as the OEM?

Both of you:  Did you purchase organic or sintered?  Thanks in advance.

Here's an article that explains the differences between Sintered and Resin (organic) pads and will be a help in determining which one is right for you. It's not simply a case of one being "better" than the other. Their pros/cons are different and it will depend on your weight, riding style, local conditions to determine the best for you.

Personally, at 250 lbs and touring with loaded bags, I prefer the sintered.

Thanks for the info Steve.  And thanks anyway GaryL and SYMmike.  The FA355 is the correct part number for EBC front brake pads for the RV250.  Odd thing is if you go to perfectbrakes.com web site and look up the pads by model of bike, it says it's the FA283 with an incorrect diagram of the pad, not to mention, that if you order that pad, what you receive is not what is depicted in the diagram.  But, if you call them and they look it up by bike model, they will tell you it is the FA355 which is the correct front pad for the bike.

I have genuine SYM RV250 brake pads in stock.  Airmail shipping is very prompt and very reasonably priced on small items like this.

Hi All,
for my 2009 RV250 the front brake pads from EBC (FA355s) worked perfectly. I got lucky and paid $13.59 for one pack (two pads) of FA355 on e-bay on 1/17/18. You will need two packs, a total of 4 pads.
