Fuel gauge died.
« on: June 29, 2012, 04:03:05 AM »
After work last night I noticed the fuel gauge was below empty, was about quarter on the way to work. Filled up on the way home, but still no life. I checked the resistance at the wires at the gauge, was ok so replaced the gauge and works fine. I had noticed over the last few months that when filling the tank, the gauge would onlw go to about 1/4" below full. It is good to have a parts bike, but is this available as a spare part or do you have to buy the complete cluster? I guess the next one will be the float in the tank. This VS125 is either 2007 or 2008. If it had a trip meter it wouldn't be so bad.

Hi, I have the same problem. The gauge was suddenly dead. I haven't yet time to check the fault but I'm afraid the the spare is expensive...

here you can find the part list. Unfortunately the instruments are "all-in-one"

Usually the problem is just a sticky float in the tank - remove float assembly, and loosen the swing arm by gently tapping on it where it is attached to the sending unit- loosen the little clip
Also suggest checking the connection behind lower right protect strip
