Hi revs and poor pulling off.
« on: March 22, 2012, 10:26:12 AM »
Guys

I have played around with cars and motorbikes but have no experience with automatics or scooters.

So when I got a puncture , I was totally stuck with how to get the wheel off and now I have a couple of problems that need to be looked at by the dealer but he is fully booked til early April.

First issue
sometimes when I pull off it feels like clutch slip for 1 second then it OK . This happened a while back but the dealer fixed it. Now its happening every time I pull off.

Second issue
I am sure the I am having to rev far more then before to get the bike moving .

These two things may be related but I wouldn't know where to start.

With my weight 76kg, on a straight without wind , how high should i have to rev to get moving ? and again on a straight with no wind if I am going a steady 40mph , how hi should the revs be?

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

Try removing the clutch bell and lightly sanding the inner surface as well the clutch pads.

Check the belt and the roller weights while you have the CVT cover off.

Nothing much happens before 6,000rpm, at 40 you should be at about 6.25k rpm IIRC.
I'll have a look again next time I ride it!

Thanks Guys.

I took the cover off  last night and didn't get much further.

A Video I saw showed a guy removing a clutch by putting the bike on a side stand and using a Hydraulic socket to remove it.

I don't have one of those and trying it manually only just spun it.
Are we supposed to wedge it or something to hold it still?
Cheers

Not sure what is going on - but it sounds like the puncture / fix disturbed something.
But an electric impact wrench to get the clutch of variator nuts off.

Of course if still under the 3 yr warranty - just take it to a dealer, any dealer.

oh well .
The bike is with the dealer .
I mentioned something else that is a problem and I think i was fed a line.

Since I got the scooter , the fan under the dashboard is super loud.
They said all joyrides are like that but as I don't know anyone local with one , I couldnt check.

Any of you ever growing band of joyride 200i have a noisy dashboard fan?

On a completely different note , I asked what I could get as part exchange if I went for  a citycom 300.
£1600 :(  11 months 2600km and I lose half .

I am sure I will get back to enjoying the joyride when these niggles are sorted so wouldnt swap anyway. so there !

Here's hoping that they get it all sorted out for you...  8)
I've been using ours a lot recently since the Ducati Monster threw its toys out of the pram - and I have to say, the more I ride it the more I like it !

i think joyride will start to move when the rpm is at 4000...but if u find it jerking, most probably u need to have ur CVT system serviced...what we actually do in malaysia, is to have the cvt serviced every 2000km..what the mechanic will do is to clean up the whole CVT n use sand paper to sand a bit at the clutch pad...do remember to use SAE140 grade gear oil to make sure it last long n can withstand the beating...n most important, have ur mechanic to check the collar seal located within the cvt assembly...if u find it scratched, do change it...

Thanks exoyie .

I have had the dealer look at it again and they have ordered a new clutch under warranty.

Hopefully this resolves it.

The Joyride is really earning its keep while I am in London . Its the fastest and cheapest way to get around.

I need a few tweaks like finally fitting the 12v socket and I will have a good setup for summer.

if i'm not mistaken,u can actually made direct connection to the battery for the 12v socket..but i do suggest for u to install a switch n LED as an indicator for on/off..

btw, have u resolved the dashboard fan sound?..how about changing it with those harddisk or microprocssor's fan located on normal CPU motherboard..just find those with the same size...

Hi Exoyie

I havent taken the front off yet , but when I do will definately get the fan  swapped if its a a standard one. Its now intermittantly making even more noise.

The other thing I wanted to change was the carrier bag hook. Its sit so low that bag handles just come off. I may replace it with a mountaining hook.

I do agree with u...just change it n placed it higher...dunno why they actually put it at that height..
