Windshield
« on: February 12, 2012, 08:42:35 PM »
I just purchased a RV 250 and so far, I love it!
I would like to install a larger or longer windshield, since that seems a common request.

I live in Miami Beach, anyone has any idea where I can purchase one in South Florida?

Thank you for all your help!

Dilip

I'd love to know where to get one anywhere in the United States!  Been trying for some time now with no luck.

Just wondered if you had dealt with this company before or perhaps you had gotten one of their windscreens.  The one for the Joymax 250 says that it is a medium screen.  I wonder if this is any taller than the original?  I'd like to get one as big as possible.  I have sent them an email.  Thanks for the site.

From the site the dimensions of each windshield is outlined in millimeters. It's the same screen that I put on my 07 RV scooter a few months ago which I bought from a dealer in Quebec, Canada for upwards of $300.00. There were instructions with the windshield that were in Italian only. That's how I know where my dealer originally bought it from...the same guys. For my newer RV with the horizontal headlights I hoping they can sell me a tall windshield directly. I emailed them too but still awaiting a reply. Good luck!

675mm for the medium height seems to be almost the same height as the one we currently have on ours (without removing the plasic, i estimate about 550mm). it seems to only be about 5 inches longer; which at an angle doesnt necessarily mean 5 inches higher.

http://symforum.com/index.php?topic=868.msg5307#msg5307 shows the 74cm version, which still doesnt look too high (?) i wonder if jim63 has a measurement of his windshield

I measured my tall screen and it seems to be about 700mm tall.  So the medium screen is only about an inch less.  I'd actually prefer a little lower screen, so I could see over the top of it.

Anyway, would be great if we could get those screens in the US.

I have not heard back from them either.  It's just crazy that we can't get these things locally.  Thanks for the reply.

I emailed them and got a response, but now don't see the shield on the web site any more.  Emailed them again to find out what was going on....

Well, I went ahead and ordered this screen from Euronetbike.com:http://euronetbike.net/isotta/scooters/sym/joy-max-300-evo-09/windshield-medium-protection-full-attack-for-joy-max-300-evo-vers.2009.html.  The price was very good, 91euros, delivered to the US  I hope it fits!

Good luck with this. Keep us posted on any brokerage fees, shipping etc, final costs.
My SYM is an '11 RV 300i with the dual horizontal headlights. They answered my email and don't make the windshield my model. I'm still searching.

Can't get them in the UK either!
I popped the front off my horizontal light model and was amused to see the welded metal framing inside has a lovely arch for no purpose - I guess that frame is the exact same one used on the stacked headlamp version ;)

Also popping the front off revealed some lamp socket holes molded into the screen plastic - perhaps they were thinking of putting lamps right up in the fairing? Looks like they thought about a light behind the SYM sign too. Nicely arranged wiring inside too - plus a whole bunch of rubber mounted relays easy to access.

I'm wondering if fitting a small polycarbonate spoiler may be a better idea, ideally if I can find an adjustable mount.
At least I can form a small lump of poly, as it will fit in my oven for drying, and then later at a higher temperature for forming!
