Sym joymax 125i
« on: December 12, 2017, 02:05:42 PM »
Hi i bought a sym joymax 125i
In march.
I am now having having starting problems.
Had a new battery fitted.
But its as if the bike is draining the battery.
The battery drops from 14v to 9 when stood over a weekend. When wont start
Any ideas?
Is this model prone to certain problems

'New' doesn't necessarily mean 'good.' You could try charging the battery and leaving it disconnected from the scooter to see if it's holding a charge...

Hi thanks for the reply.
Battery is new & fully charged.
The battery has been tested the bike is charging it. Its not discharging.. been tested.
Its very odd.. could it be starter motor or ignition.

Part of what Red's suggesting there would help point out a potential parasitic drain somewhere in the bike itself.
That'd happen regardless of how the charging system works, so really that's not a bad idea to try.

If the battery still discharges when then you either have evil demonic mice, for which you'll want a feline exorcist (please video the battle), or the battery has an odd internal short or other defect.  Those do happen, & can happen as easily on a new battery as a used one.  It'd be weird sure, but so is the overall issue.
