Replace transmission oil every 600 or 3100 miles?
« on: October 05, 2017, 05:50:48 PM »
The first page of my maintenance guide for lance cabo 125 says to replace transmission oil every 3100 mile. But then on each page of the guide it says transmission oil should be changed with each 600 mile service? Is that a mistake?

You change it with the initial service then at the other interval thereafter.
Gets the grindings out from break in.  It doesn't take much so other folks with similar intervals change it on their oil changes since it's easier to remember, so a bit more frequently than the recommended interval.

What Tromper said. I change the gear oil at the same time I change the engine oil, which is every 500-600 miles on our two Lance scooters (150cc and 125cc). It's easy and quite cheap insurance to keep the grindings flushed out. If possible, get a large syringe (from a vet place or something similar) to squirt the gear oil into that little hole - SOOO much easier than using the gear oil bottle tip. And you can measure it out very precisely.
