HD200 Evo carburetor or fuel injected?
« on: October 04, 2017, 03:10:08 PM »
I can't seem to find this info anywhere. Do the current year HD200 Evo have a carburetor or fuel injection?  The reason I ask is that I am considering replacing my Aprilia Scarabeo with the SYM if it has fuel injection. Since my scoots sit for at least 6 months out of the year I prefer FI as they don't seem to gum up if I forget to stabilize the fuel prior to letting it sit for the winter.

SYM's generally played that one close to the chest until the moment of release.

Not sure if there will be a 2018 for us, but the last model year was carb'd.
That said all the euro ones are injected now, so there's hope.

I see on the Alliance site that the listed year for thee HD is 2016.  Maybe they're selling out their carbed stock in the US. (Then we'll see FI).

We need a fingers crossed emoji!

Alpha, I'm an owner of both an HD200 and an SC500ie. I'm curious as to why you're considering going from a Scarabeo to the HD200.

Love my 'Beo, but since I leave my scoots (also have a Kymco 300 GTi) for 6 months each year, carbs are a lot more problematic with stale fuel. I do try to remember to use Sta bil, but sometimes forget...

I, too, mothball my carbureted 2009 HD200 when I migrate from SoCal to Alaska for the summer.  I always drain the fuel and run the engine for a few minutes until it sucks the carb dry.  Never had a problem with passages gumming up.  Just gas up when I get back and take off.  Don't use Stabil, or anything else.  I am guessing detergents they put in the gas are enough to dissolve any gumming that does occur, just so long as the passages are open enough for gas to get thru.  YMMV
