Regulator or Stator
« on: July 13, 2017, 01:17:08 AM »
I have a 2008 Citycom 300 which has been great for the first two years since I bought it. One night recently it just cut out, lights failed, then whole engine died. After diagnosis the servicing garage first replaced the regulator, and has now found one of the fuses has melted. Not sure if the regulator was really at fault but the fuse certainly has blown. Battery was not charging which is why they kept looking after replacing the regulator. Its been costly and not fully sure yet that all is resolved. Just posting this in case others have similar issues. Fantastic bike, this has been the only major problem for me.

Did the shop replace the regulator before testing it?

They diagnosed the regulator fault and replaced that before the melted fuse was found. It took quite a job to remove mouldings to find the fuse, which was done after finding the replacement regulator had not solved the battery not charging.
