License Plate Holder / Cracking Plate
« on: July 03, 2017, 11:26:45 AM »
Hi Everyone,

With a recent out of state move last year, I've had to update my license plate. My old CA one got cracked really quickly after putting on the bike (I think due to the vibration from stopping at lights & intersections?). I put some rubber gaskets on each side of the top bolts that held it on which I think helped. I'm wanting to avoid a damaged plate from day 1 this go around.

Anyone know of an off-the-shelf solution to this? I'd like to avoid a really goofy looking license plate frame (fake chrome?) if at all possible. Has anyone else even experienced this...?

Thanks in advance!

Alas, that's a known problem with the lovely Symba...check this thread (there are several suggestions):

Thanks LisaRae! I'll just hodge-podge something together on my own then.

Peace be the journey!!!  :^)

Clement,

I lost mine a while back...Vibration cracks the plastic and eventually it breaks and falls off...

Here is a post I did when it happened to me...What I found was a License Plate Holder from
a 2002 Kawasaki Ninja that I had as I replaced with another worked perfectly on the Sym Symba
(Holes lined up perfectly)...Then to have the license plate light I just ordered an inexpensive
LED one from Ebay...Worked perfectly...Looked way better than stock...And a couple of years later
it's still going strong (On bumpy Nevada dirt roads)...

Here's my post...  http://symforum.com/index.php?topic=2881.msg16417#msg16417
