Bench seat question
« on: June 28, 2017, 10:55:28 AM »
Hi Symba folks
I am a newbie with a question: I have a Symba and I was able to snag a bench seat  Do you have to purchase that rear rack in order to put the bench seat on? (The Alliance Powersports website seems to indicate this.) I'd like to do the work myself if possible.
Thanks very much!

The rear rack is not needed with the bench seat.
The bench seat should come with an attachment bracket.

Thanks.... sorry to ask but what do you mean by attachment bracket? There's a sort-of clamp on the underside of the seat that's similar to what's under the stock rear seat. But I didn't get an "extra" bracket.

You can see the black bracket in the fourth photo of this thread:

I see....it's that black 'anchor bar' .... I did not get that in the seat that I received. You say it comes with the seat. Does it also come with the rear rack...? I wouldn't mind having one of those actually.

I have actually used the seat without the anchor bar when I forgot about it after changing from bench to single seat, back to bench...but mine did come with it and I have it installed now.

Thanks for your replies! Turns out I did get that black bar... Just didn't see it. So I'll follow those pix and try to install it. I'm assuming, then, that to fill the gas, I have to unlatch in back and lift seat up. Seems like a hassle but I guess you get used to it.

Hmmm...I have the bench seat, and the bracket, and I've NEVER used a latch (haven't even noticed if I have a latch!) to secure the bench seat. I figure the seat sits well on that bracket...

One thing I might suggest - I keep a couple of bungee cords wrapped around the black bracket, and when I need to fuel-up, I lift the seat, and use a bungee to secure the edge of the bench seat to a handlebar, otherwise trying to keep the seat out of the way of the fuel nozzle is tricky!

Enjoy your SYMBA - I've had mine since 2010 and LOVE it!
