What Does That Battery Voltage Reading Mean?
« on: June 02, 2017, 09:07:39 AM »
Hello people:

When I first start the engine, I notice that a battery voltage reading briefly appears on the instrument panel. What does that reading represent or reflect?  :-\

Usually a self check aka things are working more or less.
Kinda depends.  Did you get your battery sorted out?

I have concluded, after reading other posts, that the meter reading represents the state of charge of the battery  :-[. Since my original post, the battery died, probably due to my inattention over the winter, and I replaced it with an inexpensive $26 battery. However the voltage reading when it appears briefly, is only 12V. My guess is that this is the result of buying a cheap battery. Am planning on paying attention to it this cold season, to see if I can extract three years of electricity out of it  :P.
