Shinko 241 Tires
« on: April 01, 2017, 08:05:03 PM »
Well I just ordered a set of Shinko 241 Tires for the Symba. As well as some new inner tubes.
Since my new bike has a slow leak on the back tire  :-\, and I'll have to remove it to find the leak and repair it, I figured that I may as well change the tires to some more trail compatible tires. Looking forward to testing these new pups out.
It will be a few weeks before I'm able to install them as I'll be away on a short vacation. But I will give a report to the group once I have a chance to install and test them out.

On another note, I'm thinking of replacing the chain and sprockets. I'm not able to find any info on replacements. I don't want to go OEM because I think that they are of poor quality. I am looking for an O'Ring chain and possibly 14/36 teeth ( stock configuration ).
If anybody has any info or can steer me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.
Cheers. 8)

I was reading up on chains in this thread, not sure if you've seen it or not.  Lots of good information in there.

Since you might be replacing the sprocket, you may want to read this thread.  I intend to buy some blue Locktite and use it on some of the bolts in that area.  I read about it here:

Thanks for the info and links Hellopitty. Good information.

On another topic, I noticed that you have a windshield mounted on the red Symba. Can I ask you what make is it and how effective is it for wind and rain protection? Also did you notice any drop in top end speed with extra resistance?

The windshield is made by a company named Memphis Shades.  It was on my bike when I bought it from the dealership.
I'm mostly a fair weather rider, but have been caught in the rain and it did well protecting me.  As for resistance or drop in top end, I don't notice it much if at all because the bike is kind of slow anyways compared to my other rides.

Good to know and I'm quite familiar with Memphis Shades.
I have ridden in lots of rain and cold and every bike I've owned ( except at the beginning of my riding career), I've installed a windshield on them or they came with one. Now I won't ride without. The Symba is pretty small ( in the power department), that I haven't yet decided if I'm going to install one on it yet because I won't be doing any highway riding. But I may anyway.

Hi!  Are you back?  I think you mentioned you were out of town.  Have you put in any Symba time?  Any more thoughts about your purchase.

Hi yes got back to town last Wednesday night. Been a screwed up affair since then. I'm having issues with getting the Symba registered here in Alberta. Also we had about 4" of snow on Saturday and I'm not able to get the bike started ( now has no spark ). Plus the back tire has gone flat while I was away. Zero miles on it so far, So my impression of the bike so far is not very favourable.
I have a new ignition coil and hopefully a new CDI module coming in from the dealer. So hopefully I'll be able to at least get it running properly. After that, I need to deal with the registration office and get things sorted with them.
I've never had so much difficulty with one vehicle as I have had so far with this bike. 🙁
I'm optimistic that it will all work out and I'll finally be able to enjoy it

My new Shinko tires and Kenda Innertubes have already arrived as well as a new sprocket. I'm hoping to maybe install them at some point.

Update...
After some hours of trouble shooting the electrical system I'm happy to say that I have the Symba up and running.
Haven't had it out yet still need to deal with the registries office on getting the bike registered and plated.

Getting it up and running is great news!
One last step and you should be good to go.  Seems like it shouldn't be too much of a problem, it's a new bike, plus they were legally imported into Canada.  Probably just some hoops to jump through, then the plates!  Looking forward to reading that update.
