CITYCOM 300 2016 ROLL OUT
« on: October 22, 2015, 09:59:02 AM »
Any news when the Citycom 300 2016 will be roll out. I called one of the local dealers here in Florida and they said they had no news and that they will not get any until they sell two floor models.  Since I'm looking at the 300 and others I visited the local Suzuki dealer and they told me the Burgman will be at their stores by end of November. Don't have any news on the Kymco Downtown 300. I'm considering all 3 bikes for 2016 and also the Honda Forza unless it will still be red.  Thanks for your input..

What Burgman? Two of the 3 dealers here ALREADY have the Burgman 200's on "clearance". I like the Forza by Honda look wise but dont like the way its laid out. The 400 Burgman is freaking HUGE and wont fit in our parking space. KYMCO's are great bikes but we have zero dealers here so thats a no go for us. A friend just bought a left over Yamaha Majesty. Kinda big and very comfortable but I personally dont do Yamaha anymore (bad experience with a Zuma 125). Honda's Silver Wing wobbles like a 1960's motorcycle if you go fast around corners, that means boring to us. We could downgrade to something smaller as my wife has a Can Am Spyder but I still would like something in the 300cc range if possible. ALWAYS wanted a T Max by Yamaha but Im not sure I could give them a 2nd chance. Oh, I know that the Zuma 125 and SMax are made in Taiwan by Lifan and the Majesty and TMax are made in Japan BY Yamaha, but that Zuma 125 was junk! Sorry so loooong but I had to chime in!

Scooter,   Burgman 200. I sat on the leftover 2015 model and is very comfortable. The 400 and 650 are monster and not for me. Salesmen told they'll have the 2016 in floor by November. When Syms and Kymco are coming out with their 2016 is still a mystery. Yamaha Tmax discontinued in US per info on the web. I got to check out to see if Forza 2016 is in November but if the color is red I'm no interested. I might go with Burgman 200, Syms or Kymco. The Burgie is powerful with 200 cc and can do 80MPH on highway and small enough for city riding.

Sorry I meant the Yamaha Majesty. Another interesting bike already in Europe is the Kawasaki J300 which is Kymco DT 300 clone but with a Ninja look. I have checked the Kawasaki USA site but I don't see anything for the scooter on their page.

Yamaha has TMAX's in the USA again.  I have an older 2009 and it's been great.

I don't like the looks of any of the "maxi" styled scooters. They look like they are a mile long and have that Oscar Meyer weinermobile look. That includes everything from the Honda PCX125 to the Burgman 650. I bought an HD200 because it has a flat floor (no big hump) and large wheels, so it looks shorter. I now want a bigger scooter, but the only two I like the looks of are the Kymco People GTi300 and the Vespa GT300 Super. Both really expensive. Local dealers have new 2014 Majesty 400s on sale for half price, and that is hard to turn down, but I just wouldn't be happy with one. The 2005 Vespa PX150 is really what I think a scooter should look like. I have a 2009 Genuine Stella 2 stroke, but it is not reliable enough to get very far from home on. From what I understand, the Citicom 300, which likes a lot being a 300cc scooter, is only marginally faster than a 170cc HD200. Seems like SYM has a math problem.

The Citycom is way more stable and gets to it's top speed faster than the hd200.  The hd was my first scoot and a 2009 Citycom was my 2nd.  I have a 2013 Citycom and a 2014 GTS300.  If things went south for me financially, I think I'd keep my Citycom out of all the bikes I own/have owned.

The J300 is not a Kymco clone it's a Kymco with different plastics.

If I were even thinking about a bigger scooter I'd wait to see what Kymco is up to with the K50 just unveiled March 24. Rumor says 550cc, belt final etc. waiting on full specs but this is a TMAX competitor for sure.

K50 looks like similar mechanicals as a T-Max - twin engine, belt drive from a fixed engine, so it's not really the same thing as a Citycom and likely much more expensive. I still haven't seen a  Citycom S for sale anywhere so I dunno prices - expect around 3,600-3,800 euros it seems.

The SYM importer in Hong Kong say they have no plans to import Citycom S so I may have to get one direct from Taiwan, or even via US/Europe, which is crazy. For sure I will replace my current scoot with the same, unless someone does a 16" wheel scoot with the same comfort and economy but a better chassis.

Does anyone know an agent in Taiwan that exports Citycoms? They don't sell them in dealers so an exporter is the only way it seems.

To the best of my knowledge the Citicom 300 has never been sold in Taiwan and it is export only.  You can't even buy parts for it here except for a very few oddball items (eg. steering race bearings) that it shares with the GTS/RV250.

Yeah, I went to Kaohsiung last summer for a holiday and had a look - very hard to find anything over 200cc. I rented a 150 which was actually lots of fun but I couldn't find anywhere that could help me buy a Citycom for export. I guess I need to find an export agent - maybe the same one that exports to the US dealer?

Sym posted something on Facebook saying that the Citycom S 300i is here and posted the link to the overview.

I have a New 2016 Citycom 300i.  only have 250 miles on it. A lot of rain in Minnesota.  I have found a 50+ mile park ride I can ride .  I really like the center stand , it is very easy to get it up on the stand.  The bike is easy handling on and off the road.  The speed all most match the GPS .  Has the power out let for GPS and can be used to keep Battery  charged.   I even road the scooter at night to test the lights,  dual head lights 35W each
both on at same time, lights up road very well in low and high beam. The turn signals can be seen from the side and front and back. The horn is very loud.  You have to be extra careful with the breaks, feel like power breaks.

They do seem to be out now, & reports are good.

Hopefully that'll breathe some life back into SYM in the U.S.
