Fuel pump not working ?
« on: October 17, 2015, 08:54:13 AM »
Hi,

I've been unable to start my Joyride after not using it for 8 months.

Fuel doesn't seem to be getting out of the tank - I can't see any in the plastic filter and when I take the exit pipe off of the pump, no fuel comes out when turning the engine over.

Are the pumps repairable?
Is there a place to get a replacement pump (used or new)?   I
Are there any other pumps that will do the job?

For future reference, are there any breakres that specialise in Sym scooters?

Thanks,

Keith

The scooter is a 2004 Joyride 125
I'm in the UK

I had a bit of a different issue with the stock fuel pump on my RV 250.
The bike kept fouling the plug and was very hard to set proper idle.
Turns out the pump diaphragm had a small pinhole in it letting un metered fuel get to the engine through the vacuum line.
After discussing the issue with our friend in Taiwan and asking for price of a new fuel pump, the suggestion was made to buy an aftermarket one for a lot less money.
Bought a Mikuni  that is rebuildable for about $30.
It's been running great for the past 3 years.
